The Volos Academy for Theological Studies -Research Center, in collaboration with the Holy Metropolis of Demetrias, the Social Charitable Company “Health Path” and the Association of People with Disabilities in Magnesia (Volos) “Ippokampos” organizes a Conference on the general theme “ Church, Disability and Society” to be held in Volos on Saturday March 30, 2019.

The purpose of the conference is to inform and raise the awareness of the clergy, citizens and students about issues related to disability in the context of the ecclesiastical and, more broadly, social life. During the conference, a variety of topics, like “Activation and empowerment of people with disabilities,” “The Psycho-social dimension of disability,” “Practices of integration and accessibility of persons with disabilities in the liturgical texts and the body of the Church,” “Orthodox Theology and disability” will be discussed.

Our basic aim is not only the educational or training dimension and the scientific impact of the conference, but also the extraction of useful conclusions for both the Church and the society in general.
